Coffee Beanery is a third generation coffee roasting business and coffee restaurant. The business started in 1976 and has been franchising since 1985. There are about 100 Coffee Beanery stores around the world, 30 of which are located outside of the United States. Each of the Coffee Beanery locations uses only the top 3% of specialty Arabica coffee. Since they are the manufacturer as well as the vendor, Coffee Beanery is able to control their product and their prices.

Above & Beyond the Typical Coffee Franchise Model

Coffee Beanery Franchise Store

Coffee Beanery doesn’t just do coffee. They also offer paninis, wraps, and sandwiches. And they don’t just offer any ol’ coffee. Coffee Beanery is the only large franchise that roasts up their own beans – beans grown around the world – and they do it up right.

Coffee Beanery utilizes the Right Roast® to create over 42 flavored coffees. As Vice President Kevin Shaw explains, “We believe the real artistry in producing the perfect bean is in the right roast for each variety… Each of our fine coffees has its own distinctive flavor components that are enhanced by our roasting expertise. You can see, smell, and taste the difference the Right Roast® makes.”

All of the 42 flavored coffee are sugar-free, lactose-free, and alcohol-free, which makes Coffee Beanery’s product preferable to the sugary syrups other companies might offer to achieve a flavored coffee.

Even their decaffeinating process is state of the art. 95% of decaf coffee being sold around the world is chemically decaffeinated. Coffee Beanery is not about using chemicals in their coffee, so they use the Swiss Water Process, a 100% chemical free decaffeination process that delivers coffee that is 99.9% caffeine-free while protecting the unique origin characteristics and flavor.

Coffee Beanery continues to differentiate itself by roasting, flavoring, and packaging its own coffee and investing in domestic franchising supports and systems.

Becoming a Coffee Beanery Franchisee

The first aspect of life as a new Coffee Beanery franchisee is the training. New franchisees spend two weeks at the CB world headquarters in Michigan. This includes training on coffee knowledge, day to day operations, drink and food prep, safety, ordering and reporting, and marketing and social media. You will learn everything you need to know to start and run your own Coffee Beanery! But the training doesn’t end there. Once your store opens, corporate is on site for the first ten days, walking alongside you every step of the way.

This is not a passive ownership model. Coffee Beanery owners are very hands on, very social people. On average, one-third of a franchisee’s day is spent in the store interacting with staff and customers. Another one-third of the day is spent in the community networking and building relationships. The rest of the time is spent on administrative tasks such as managing staff, finances and ordering. So, you can see that someone who doesn’t enjoy spending a lot of time with people might not be a good fit for this franchise. Coffee Beanery prides itself on sending ambassadors out into their communities. Their franchisees are very involved and that is part of what makes them so successful.

The ideal franchisee would be an outgoing and sales oriented individual with experience in the restaurant or food service industry in possession of excellent customer service skills. Coffee Beanery’s core values are outstanding customer services, teamwork, continual improvement, a positive attitude, and having fun! So, if you are on board with all of those core values, you’d be a great fit for Coffee Beanery!

The total average investment is just $200,000. So what’s stopping you from looking into this opportunity today?
